How do I know when a problem is serious enough to require counseling?

Each of us can be faced with life events that are difficult to manage. Relationship problems, work-related issues, parenting challenges, depression are just a few examples of common challenges that can diminish our abilities to effectively manage our activities from one day to the next. Every person has his or her own method of determining when it would be useful to seek outside help. The statements listed below are frequently used to determine whether there is a need for outside help. If these statements ring true for you, counseling may be helpful.

I spend a lot of time and energy thinking and worrying about my problems.

Others have expressed concerns about me.

My problems are taking a toll on my health and my ability to cope.  It appears that I am not as resilient as I used to be.

My personal and work relationships have been negatively affected by the pressures and stress in my life.

I no longer find pleasure in activities that previously had been pleasurable or satisfying.

I don`t sleep very well anymore because I am worried about so many things.

How do I schedule an appointment?

Simply contact 1-800-EAP-1223 or 816-931-3073 to arrange an appointment.

In the Shanghai, we have two locations. The one is at room 2010, No 106 Nandan Road East and the other is at No 1118 ChangShou Road Boutique Mall.

How many EAP visits are available to me?

As an employee benefit, the EAP offers short term counseling services with the exact number of sessions determined by your organization. The number of visits ranges from three to eight based on the model selected by your Health. Generally, 70% of all employees/family members seen in the EAP receive all the counseling they need during these visits.

What if I need services beyond the EAP?

Should you need assistance beyond the EAP, your EAP counselor will facilitate a referral to a hospital or other necessary resource. Once a referral has occurred, the employee is financially responsible for the cost of these services.

How confidential is the service?

Simply stated, privacy is the foundation of the Saint Luke's Health System EAP. To ensure privacy, we:
